| With body language that would do a drag queen justice, the women balance their need for each other with their resentment of every real and imagined slight. At times, the film is a little foursquare in its self-help-iness -- when Geralyn shops for a wig in the wake of her chemotherapy, she encounters a drag queen who, pointing to his heart, earnestly intones, ``It's what's in here that counts. He is distraught each time, and swears it will never happen again; but it does, and in the end Becky needs to be rescued from his violent attack by Abby and a protective drag queen who is a family friend. |
